The Garden Gate Flower Company is run by farm owner Penelope, her daughter Rebecca and family friend, Marion. Our organic cutting garden is set in The Paddock at Trezare Farm, Fowey. The farmhouse looks out over the paddock to the valley and sea beyond. As a working organic farm this idyllic, windswept setting is perfect for growing flowers which can cope with such conditions. The flowers are strong, healthy and last well in a vase. The surrounding fields and hedgerows support a wealth of wildlife and native species of plants.

With wild roses, honeysuckle and campion in the hedges in early summer, to bluebell woods in the small coppice and yellow daffodils exploding from sheltered banks in spring, there is a wealth of inspiration on our doorstep. The mature gardens of the farmhouse supplement our bouquets, with scented jasmine and creamy roses which frame the front door and windows; with white and lace-cap hydrangeas, crocosmia, centranthus rubra, rosemary and lavender all featuring at different times of year. The way we farm supports a range of habitats and environments for plants and animals being pushed to the margins in many parts of the country. Here at Trezare habitats maintained through traditional grazing patterns and organic farming supports important wildlife populations. Our flower field not only looks good but it provides important food plants for bees and butterflies. Whilst we actively encourage insects as natural pest controls, we also aim to minimise our impact on the environment and positively contribute towards its conservation.
