Spring arrived with a bang

Its remarkable how two years can be so different.  Spring last year with no doubt about it came bottom of the class (sorry kids SATs week so it's all about school!) - with a report of 'must try harder'.  Certainly this year Spring has sprung to the top of the class albeit peaking somewhat early and one might think slightly 'overachieving'.  If it was a pupil at school it would be told to calm down and check through your answers again before moving on...

It's also worth noting how each year we forget how manic it is every Spring.... 'must try harder' to remember for next year!  Winter lulls you into a care free existence and then suddenly the grass starts growing, the weeds take off and you are bang into Spring.

We've had a three lovely 121 sessions on our farm so far this season and it's be wonderful to share our flowers with our students.  Keep an eye out on Rock My Wedding on 27 May as Yolanda's 121 day will be featured on their blog!

Whilst the tulip season was off the chart sadly the rannunclus really did suffer at the hands or mouths of vermin and the heat in our tunnel put pay to any remaining survivors.  Anemones were another disappointment this year - thank goodness for Irises!  We've a number of bearded irises now in the tunnel and they really are a head-turner when used in an arrangement.

So, what's up next I hear you all chant like excited school children.... Well, the first of our indoor peonies have been showing off in arrangements!  We've also got roses albeit one variety our ever reliable Alfred Carrie rose which graces the front of my Victorian cottage.  The field roses are budding up nicely and it's safe to say when these do arrive schools out for term and I'll be found skiving in amongst them!!!

If you would like to join us for a 121 this autumn our diary is now open for bookings.  Courses are designed around your needs and run from 10am until 2pm with a light lunch at the cost of £340.  Extended courses are available.
