We thought as the bride and groom's are now starting to book their 2018 wedding it might be nice for us to shine the spotlight on some of our local venues and how, over the years, we have styled them.
We start with Boconnoc House, a family run estate in South East Cornwall. Set in the most beautiful grounds this impressive house has been carefully restored to provide an amazing location for your wedding. With a stable yard and barns, ancient bath house and pretty church the ceremony options are vast. Being an exclusive use venue you really can feel like the owners of this wonderful estate!

The Stable Yard Ceremony
The ceremony is often the first look that guests will have of your wedding day and the florals can be an exiting part of that. If you choose to get married in the Stable Yard at Boconnoc the large doors look amazing with long garlands draped from one to another. Consider having large churns at the base to bring the focal points lower and create interest on another level. If churns aren't your thing big stone urns would work well too.

Repetition
Sometimes it's nice to see things twice! Rather than lots of different arrangements - keep some continuity. Inside the stable yard barn there is a beam which sits above the ceremony table this looks beautiful with loose garlanding and fairy lights to provide soft lighting.

The Bathouse Ceremony
Outdoor weddings are becoming very popular and if the weather is kind to you finding a venue that has outdoor ceremony options is well worth considering. Creating an arch that will frame your ceremony is a lovely backdrop and installations like this one are made the morning of your wedding. We now have two different size arches which can be used in this location. It's worth pointing out that this end of the Bathouse is not licensed.

The Dorothy Garden Ceremony
I's hard to beat a beautiful lawn, carpeted walkway, rose petals and sunshine! Draw on the natural beauty of the surroundings and keep any floral arrangements simple.
Placing a large footed low bowl on a clothed ceremony table gives a key focal point for the signing of the register and the rose petals (fresh of course) add the touch of English garden to your wedding.

Boconnoc House
This grand house has a beautiful entrance hall and to really make an impact your foral styling needs to go big! Placing one large footed urn on the entrance table will fit with the proportions of the room. With an arrangement like this you are still able to utilise the space underneath for items like guest books.
The Drawing Room
Bathed in natural light this elegant room lends itself to relaxed floral arrangements. There are two wonderful alcoves which permanently house two very large Japanese style vases and they look dramatic with large branches. Alternatively and our favourite is to have a low bowl arrangement where the beauty is at eye level and allows for the light to flood into the alcove.
Mirroring the arrangements in the alcove to one on the mantle piece will keep the continuity of colour, texture and style with your wedding.

The Garden Room
With options to have both long and round tables it's important to choose the right floral set up to compliment your table styling. Round tables lend themselves to oversized bowls or urns as the space allows for fuller design and more trailing foliage. Again portions are important a tiny arrangement on a big round table looks wrong and therefore perhaps long banquet style dinning is better if you budget does not allow for a larger sized arrangement.

Creating a outdoor / indoor style of arrangements like this one in the depths of winter works really well with a mix of cut flowers and potted plants. Adding height above your guests heads with large branches also gives the opportunity to hang tea lights creating a magical dinning experience.

The Bridal Bouquet
Working with the seasons and the flowers in our gardens has the added advantage that each arrangement is unique. Depending on the time of year tends to determine the size of the arrangement and I say it again 'proportion is key'! We love creating a bridal bouquet to be captured at this venue with it's fabric lined walls of the bridal suite it oozes luxury.
